Recovering from A Beat Down? #CoveritUp

Clearly there MUST be something in the air because I have seen/heard of  1 TOO Many beat downs this weekend! Poor babies! The way reality tv is going these days, the Solange on Jay-Z beat down didn’t surprise me. Honestly, it’s probably not the first time things have gotten physical. Nevertheless, for those fights that can’t be avoided,  try the new Kat Von D Lock it  Tattoo Foundation. For just $34.00 at Sephora, this foundation will cover any bruise, scar or burn incurred from a variety of beat down scenarios. It is Extremely thick! However, you can dilute the heaviness of foundation by mixing with a light moisturizer or even a tad bit of water. Guys, got into a squabble at a bar, but have a really important meeting tomorrow? Grab a sample! Then take a q-tip, dabble it onto the darkened area only, and blend carefully. Once complete, dab a little white, odorless body powder over the site with a clean fingertip or tissue. Ladies you can use your favorite colorless HD setting powder, but for fellas, powder will do the trick! Good luck and please #ElevateResponsibly LOL

Teyana and Riri’s Words Blue You Away? Cut the Drama, and Try these Icy Hues this Fall

Funny how frenemies have so much in common! Bad Girl Riri might not love Teyana Taylor’s voice but one thing’s for sure; both of them look haute in a blue lippy! They’ve announced the trend that makeup artists and beauty gurus have been sporting for the past year now. Nevertheless, now the world knows blue makeup is not limited to the eyes. In fact, the blue lipstick trend is one which has proven to be quite beautiful. Whether you prefer a pale sky-colored replica, or a tone as deep and dark as the sea. Try one of my fave beautiful blues this season!

Red Lips for Everybody!!

The next time I hear someone say I’m too this or too that to wear this or wear that It’s Going Down!!! Being a lover of all things crimson (Delta Girl of Course) I love the staple red lip as should every girl. Young or old, chic or of the tomboy sort, every girl should identify their signature red lip. Historically, the red lip has been associated with sensuality, power and brazen feminity. In short, it’a a timeless trend. Here are some tips and examples of some of my favorite red lips on varying skin tones. Enjoy!

post 5

Note #1: Many of my friends with lucious red lips think they can’t rock a red lip! This is not the case. I always recommend going for a red with a hint of fuschia or purple to resemble more of a rasberry rather than a bright red cherry. This will relate more easily to the warmth of the entire face. One special key to pulling off an awesome red lip, especially on those of us with rich skintones is to brightent the T-Zone area; that’s under the eye, upper cheek boned and down the bridge of the nose. Brightening these areas with the appropriate shade of concealer and powder if applicable will help brighten the area and provide more harmony to the face. I love Cover Girl Queen Collection’s Paint the Town;it adds a lustre, easily accessible and if it’s not perfect, you don’t have to feel guilty about spending a fortune.

Note #2 : Personally, I love red lips with a hint of orange to them. Here’s one of my personal faves BlackUp Cosmetic’s Red : RGE 17 ; it’s not drying yet gives a perfect matte finish. Color looks like this; obviously she’s about 12 shades lighter than me, but it looks great on both of us!

Note #3 :Always start with a clean face and a good liner; good looking red lips are well defined red lips; protect yourself from running off by beginning with a solid red liner of the same or slightly darker shade.

Note #4: I love a matte lip however, if you don’t have any sparkle on the rest of your face, i.e., shimmering eyelids, sparkling cheeks etc, it might be a good idea to go for a gloss. Gloss on top of a matte lipstick works great and you won’t have to worry about losing some of your color throughout the day. Otherwise, go for a stain or tint, just make sure you seal with a liner, as most glosses tend to disorient the actual shape of the lip throughout the course of the day.

Note #5: In my heart, Tika can do no wrong! She’s so beautiful, but I understand not every woman feels she can pull of this bright lip and over all glamourous look! I mean she has lashes, luminous cheeks a glossed lip ( I would’ve preferred matte lipstick in this look) and  a dramatic eye; a bit much, BUT the lip is certainly a good one. To recreate this look the right way remember, less is more! Tone it down a bit;  try going with a matte skincolor eyeshadow, or none at all, toning down the blush and voila, a gorgeous bright red lip without feeling over done.

BB Cream the All-in-one Product

In one of my recent trips to my neigboring pharmacy, I discovered Rimmel, Covergirl and Maybelline had newly released products. BB cream! As a follower of many makeup artists, and a fan of artist AJ Crimson, who happens to have his own self-named cosmetics line, including such a product, I decided to do some research of my own. BB cream (Beauty Balm), which I like to call Bold Beauty Cream is a multi-dimensional product which offers anywhere from 7-10 skin benefits. Similiar to tinted moisturizer in that it doesn’t provide full coverage, it’s so much more! Although some cosmetic lines claim that BB Cream combines skincare and makeup in 1 step, a good skin care regimen including a weekly hydrating mask, bi-weekly peel, daily cleanser, toner and moisturizer and well-balanced diet, is the best way to produce a flawless face.

Qualities of a Good BB Cream

  • SPF Protection
  • Built-in primer
  • Smoothing quality
  • Evens Skin tone
  • Litte oil and heavy ingredients
  • Brightening Effect

What’s a BB Cream Good For?

  • A day at the Beach
  • Gym flattery: Idk about you but I like to look flawless even while working out!
  • Purse Product, requiring minimal effort and technique
  • People who’ve had a major breakout and want to wear makeup without clogging pores or using too much product
  • Makeup Newbies
  • Anyone!

Fave Finds Perfect Your Smile and Scent

Many of us girls carry dozens of beauty products, gadgets and gizmos in our purses and handbags. Ever wonder how you could size down to only a couple of things that can make you look and feel like a beauty bombshell without the chore of toting around what seems like an entire cosmetic counter? Today I decided to take only two items with me to work. I know, only two! I chose Nars Pure Matte Lipstick in a pink shade called Carthage and Pacifica’s Island Vanilla Roll-On. On days when simplicity is a priority, you have to maintain two important beauty must-haves: a great scent and a great smile. Nars matte lipstick is my fave because it doesn’t have a chalky dry feel and sets well, even without liner! Pacifica’s roll-on perfume is awesome because it can be hidden anywhere and is perfect for that after-lunch pick me up when you want to look and smell fresh. What’s your beauty fave?
